Effect of Cumulative Heat and Heat Excursions
Many medical products can be damaged and lose potency if they are exposed to cumulative heat over time or exposed to temperatures above a certain threshold limit for a short period of time. While moderate short-term heat events may not have any effect on the core temperature of the product, continual exposure to heat over a long period of time or a heat excursion for a period of time above a threshold may damage the product. Such heat exposure can go unnoticed during shipping.

Irreversible Cumulative Heat and Heat Excursion Indicator
TransTracker HF single-use devices have two indicators: one that that irreversibly darkens to signal the occurrence of customer specified cumulative heat exposure over a period of time, and another that irreversibly changes color from white to red to signal if a heat excursion has occurred. These devices monitor heat sensitive products during short-term shipping. The TransTracker HF devices are placed inside or can be affixed to the exterior of multiple unit secondary packages or shipping boxes. This is an ideal tool to meet quality requirements and manage risk throughout storage and shipment of medical products.

Standard TransTracker HF devices are available in a wide range of times, from days to years, for use in refrigerated temperatures (5°C) and controlled room temperatures (25°C) and with threshold heat response temperatures of 8°C, 17°C, 21°C and 25°C (all ± 1°C). Customized card designs and messaging are available.
