Effect of Cumulative Heat and Freeze Excursions
Many medical products can be damaged and lose potency if they are exposed to cumulative heat exposure over time or if they are frozen. While moderate short-term exposure to heat or below freezing may not have any effect on the core temperature of the product, the continual exposure to heat over a period of time, multiple high heat exposures or a freeze event may damage the product. Such excursions and events can go unnoticed during shipping.
Irreversible Cumulative Heat and Freeze Indicator
TransTracker CH single-use devices have two indicators: one that irreversibly darkens to signal the occurrence of customer specified cumulative heat exposure over a period of time, and another that irreversibly changes color from green to white to signal if a freeze event has occurred. These devices monitor heat and freeze sensitive products during storage and shipping. The TransTracker CH device is placed inside or can be affixed to the exterior of multiple unit secondary packages or shipping boxes. It is an ideal tool to meet quality requirements and manage risk throughout storage and shipment of medical products.
Standard TransTracker CH devices are available with freeze response temperatures of 0°C, -1°C and -5°C (all ± 1°C) and in a wide range of times, from days to years, for use in refrigerated temperatures (5°C) and controlled room temperatures (25°C maximum). Customized card designs and messaging are available.
